Phelps Stokes Hosts European Delegation
Phelps Stokes hosted a European delegation examining public-private partnerships.
Phelps Stokes hosted a group of nine European International Visitors
invited to participate in a program entitled “The Role of Public-Private
Partnerships in Restructuring Economies.” During the first day of the program
the visitors met with Mr. Richard Norment, Executive Director of the National
Council for Public-Private Partnerships. Mr. Norment described some methods to
ensure successful public-private partnerships and then took the visitors on a
tour of two such partnerships in Washington, DC. The group went to the New York Avenue
Metro station and Union Station and listened to Mr. Norment’s comments on these
two cases where public-private partnerships were used to spur economic
development and revitalization. After their time in Washington, the group traveled to Cleveland and Akron,
Ohio and Sacramento and San
Francisco, California. Above, the group is pictured with Mr. Norment in Washington's Union Station.
