The Phelps Stokes Global Ambassador Program is an African-led approach to development. Global Ambassadors are African leaders who are able to identify their specific needs and invest their time and resources to develop programs dedicated to community development. As participants in GAP, they are able to collaborate with like-minded leaders to transform their own lives. The program currently brings together 30 young African leaders who understand the needs of their community and have already begun to address them. The program allows for the networking of a group of young African entrepreneurs and leaders by providing a global network, support system and access to vital resources needed to expand their own programs and initiatives. Once a candidate is accepted as a Global Ambassador, he/she serves a two-year term working to increase program visibility and extend the global network.
